Revenue Cycle AR Collections Specialist

The Revenue Cycle AR Collections Specialist supports healthcare revenue cycle operations by working insurance collections, denial management, appeals, reimbursement follow-up, and accounts receivable aging. This role involves researching denied or underpaid claims, checking claim status through payor systems, contacting insurance companies when needed, submitting medical records and documentation, and following up with both patients and payors for payment resolution.

This position is best suited for experienced healthcare billing professionals with strong knowledge of revenue cycle management, commercial insurance, government payor guidelines, reimbursement, medical terminology, HIPAA, and billing software. Behavioral health or mental health billing experience is preferred.

### Key Responsibilities

* Research and resolve insurance denials
* File appeals for denied or underpaid claims
* Check claim status through payor systems
* Contact insurance companies as needed
* Send medical records and supporting documentation to payors
* Follow up with patients and payors for payments
* Negotiate out-of-network reimbursement rates with insurance companies
* Review accounts receivable aging reports
* Support denial management, appeals, reimbursement, and collections workflows
* Meet daily, monthly, and quarterly billing metrics

### Requirements

* 3+ years of healthcare billing and collections experience
* Experience with revenue cycle management workflows
* Behavioral health or mental health billing experience preferred
* Knowledge of commercial insurance and government payor guidelines
* Understanding of insurance benefits and reimbursement
* Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA, and healthcare regulations
* Ability to review insurance documentation and reconcile accounts
* Strong organization and attention to detail
* Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
* Strong communication, problem-solving, and follow-up skills
* Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and billing software
