HCA Healthcare is hiring an Insurance Collections Specialist to follow up on insurance claims, resolve EOB-related billing issues, contact payers, update patient accounts, reconcile outside agency accounts, and support accounts receivable recovery.
Job Description
The Insurance Collections Specialist supports HCA Healthcare’s business office operations by completing follow-up and collections activities for patient services. This role focuses on obtaining payment from third-party payers and self-pay accounts, reducing bad debt, resolving claim issues, and supporting accurate reimbursement based on payer contracts.
The position includes insurance follow-up, EOB review, claim monitoring, payer communication, patient account documentation, payment plan negotiation, bad debt assignment, and reconciliation of accounts sent to outside agencies. This role offers hybrid or remote potential after 90 days in office.
### Key Responsibilities
* Perform follow-up on patient accounts
* Monitor insurance claims for payment
* Contact insurance companies to resolve claims
* Identify coding errors from EOBs
* Identify billing errors from EOBs
* Work to correct claim or billing errors
* Update patient account records
* Document actions taken on accounts
* Obtain payment from third-party payers
* Support collection of Medicare and Medicaid accounts
* Administer payer contract-related collection activity
* Assign bad debt accounts to collection agencies
* Reconcile accounts turned over to outside agencies
* Negotiate payment plans on self-pay accounts
* Maintain accounts receivable
* Help reduce bad debt
### Requirements
* 1+ year medical office experience preferred
* Experience in an ambulatory surgery center, hospital, or doctor’s office preferred
* Knowledge of managed care payers preferred
* Medical terminology knowledge preferred
* Strong account follow-up skills
* Strong documentation skills
* Ability to review EOBs
* Ability to work independently
* Strong attention to detail
* Strong communication skills
