Associate Director, AR & Denial Prevention

Boomerang Healthcare is seeking an Associate Director, AR & Denial Prevention to lead revenue cycle accounts receivable operations, denial prevention strategies, appeals management, reimbursement recovery efforts, and revenue optimization initiatives. This remote leadership position plays a critical role in improving financial performance, accelerating cash collections, reducing aging accounts receivable, and strengthening denial prevention processes across the organization.

This Associate Director role fits best as a low-phone position. Daily responsibilities focus on operational leadership, data analysis, team oversight, vendor management, performance monitoring, process improvement, and executive reporting. Communication occurs regularly with leadership teams, finance departments, billing operations, legal partners, and external vendors rather than through customer-facing call queues.

Key responsibilities include overseeing accounts receivable follow-up activities for commercial insurance, Medicare, workers’ compensation, personal injury, and self-pay accounts. The position manages denial prevention initiatives, appeals processes, reimbursement recovery efforts, and strategic revenue cycle operations designed to maximize collections and improve financial outcomes.

Additional duties include monitoring key performance indicators such as denial rates, net collection rates, aging accounts receivable, denial overturn rates, and days sales outstanding. The Associate Director collaborates with Revenue Integrity, Compliance, Coding, Billing Operations, Finance, and external partners to identify root causes of denials and implement corrective actions that improve reimbursement performance.

The role also includes managing workers’ compensation reimbursement strategies, overseeing personal injury receivables, coordinating lien proceedings, evaluating vendor performance, supporting reconciliation activities, and presenting operational results to executive leadership. Strong analytical skills, leadership abilities, and revenue cycle expertise are essential for success in this position.

Qualified candidates typically possess extensive healthcare revenue cycle leadership experience, strong accounts receivable management expertise, advanced knowledge of denial management processes, workers’ compensation reimbursement experience, CPT billing knowledge, and experience managing large-scale healthcare financial operations.
