Job Description
The Remote Inpatient Rehabilitation Coding Specialist supports Lifepoint Health’s Rehabilitation Services coding operations by reviewing and coding inpatient rehabilitation facility records using current ICD coding standards and IRF-PAI requirements.
Working within a fully remote team environment, this role partners with PPS Coordinators and Outcomes Managers to ensure accurate coding, impairment assignment, Medicare compliance, and timely IRF-PAI submissions. The position plays an important role in supporting reimbursement accuracy, regulatory compliance, and rehabilitation revenue cycle performance.
### Key Responsibilities
* Code inpatient rehabilitation facility records
* Assign ICD diagnosis codes
* Complete IRF-PAI coding requirements
* Support UB04 coding activities
* Work with PPS Coordinators and Outcomes Managers
* Assign impairment codes for admissions
* Identify newly diagnosed conditions
* Serve as backup for Medicare IRF-PAI transmissions
* Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
* Participate in coding education and training
* Attend staff meetings and mandatory training
* Maintain coding certifications
* Support regulatory compliance requirements
* Maintain documentation accuracy
* Follow organizational coding policies and procedures
### Requirements
* RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CCS, CPC, or CIC certification
* Minimum 2 years inpatient rehabilitation coding experience
* Experience with UB04 coding
* Experience with IRF-PAI coding
* Advanced computer skills
* Strong documentation review skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
* Ability to work independently in a remote environment
* Knowledge of coding compliance standards
