Remote IRF Coding Team Lead

The Remote IRF Coding Team Lead supports daily coding operations for Lifepoint Health’s inpatient rehabilitation facilities. This role assists the HIM Director and Coding Manager with workflow oversight, staff productivity, coding quality, regulatory compliance, onboarding, training, mentoring, and revenue cycle performance improvement.

The position includes performing coding and abstracting while serving as a resource for coding staff, Revenue Integrity teams, physicians, Chief Financial Officers, and hospital department leaders. The Coding Team Lead helps ensure accurate IRF-PAI coding, timely coding assignment completion, regulatory compliance, and improved discharged-not-final-coded performance across multiple acute rehabilitation units.

### Key Responsibilities

* Support day-to-day IRF coding operations
* Perform coding and abstracting
* Review and monitor coding quality
* Monitor coding staff productivity
* Support compliance with coding regulations
* Serve as a resource for coding staff and hospital departments
* Train, onboard, and mentor coding team members
* Assist with probationary and annual performance evaluations
* Support coding turnaround time goals
* Respond to requests from hospital departments, physicians, patients, and families
* Assist with DNFC and revenue cycle performance improvement
* Coordinate daily assignments and coding support
* Promote teamwork and staff development
* Lead coding-related projects
* Develop project work plans
* Support workflow efficiency and compliance initiatives
* Review work and ensure quality standards

### Requirements

* High School Diploma or equivalent
* 3+ years inpatient coding experience
* Inpatient rehabilitation coding experience
* IRF-PAI coding knowledge
* CCS or AAPC certification
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to present information across organizational levels
* Ability to work with physicians, CFOs, and hospital leaders
* Strong leadership and coaching skills
* Strong coding compliance knowledge
* Ability to supervise and review staff work
* Ability to work independently in a remote environment

### Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, HIM, or related field
* 2+ years supervising, coaching, or evaluating coding staff
* IRF coding leadership experience
* Revenue Integrity experience
* DNFC performance improvement experience
* Multi-facility coding experience
* Acute rehabilitation facility experience
