Remote Bankruptcy Specialist II

M&T Bank is seeking a detail-oriented Remote Bankruptcy Specialist II to join its Mortgage Bankruptcy team. This position plays a critical role in managing mortgage loans involved in bankruptcy proceedings and ensuring all required actions are completed accurately and within regulatory guidelines.

The specialist will monitor an assigned portfolio of bankruptcy accounts from Proof of Claim filing through case resolution. Responsibilities include conducting loan audits, monitoring payment plans, researching account activity, coordinating with bankruptcy attorneys, reviewing legal filings, responding to court documents, reconciling fees, and ensuring proper application of customer payments. The role also requires monitoring account status changes, reviewing bankruptcy correspondence, and supporting internal departments with account-related inquiries.

Additional duties include preparing and reviewing bankruptcy-related documents, obtaining approvals for attorney filings, monitoring compliance requirements, and maintaining accurate account records throughout the bankruptcy process. The specialist serves as a liaison between M&T Bank and external bankruptcy attorney firms to support effective case management and timely legal action when necessary.

Qualified candidates should possess at least three years of combined education and experience, including a minimum of one year of mortgage default servicing and/or bankruptcy experience. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, communication abilities, and experience working with collections or mortgage servicing systems are highly valued.

This remote full-time opportunity offers a national pay range of $20.55 to $34.25 per hour, depending on qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
