Remote Payments Operations Director at Sporty

Sporty is hiring a Remote Payments Operations Director to lead payment operations strategy across its global platform. This role supports products used by millions of daily users and focuses on improving the payment experience through strategy, optimization, compliance, fraud prevention, and cross-functional collaboration.

This is a senior leadership role for someone with deep payments experience. The position is best suited for a professional who understands global payment systems, payment performance, fraud risk, KYC, compliance, and operational team leadership.

What You’ll Do

As the Operations Director of Payments, you will define, own, and manage Sporty’s core payment operations. You will track key payment metrics, including acceptance rates, payment performance, conversion, compliance, cost, and other KPIs.

You will also review payment processes and business metrics to identify opportunities for improvement. The goal is to increase payment quality, improve efficiency, and create a smoother customer experience across global markets.

Fraud, Risk, and Compliance

This role includes ownership of fraud prevention and risk management strategies. You will help develop policies, procedures, and controls that protect the organization and reduce financial losses.

You will oversee investigations of suspected fraudulent activity. This includes reviewing data, documentation, and evidence to ensure issues receive timely and thorough analysis.

The role also requires strong compliance and risk awareness. You will stay current on changes in payment regulations, systems, industry trends, and regional rules.

Cross-Functional Leadership

The Payments Operations Director will work closely with product, engineering, and other internal teams to solve payment challenges and improve the customer experience.

You will also act as a primary point of contact with network partners to resolve ongoing production issues. Strong communication, operational judgment, and stakeholder management will be important.

Team Management

This role includes recruiting, training, managing, and leading a payments team across different regions. You will help the team build strong knowledge of Sporty’s technology, customers, payment systems, and operational processes.

You will also revise policies, enforce compliance directives, review system enhancements, and assess operational needs as the payment landscape changes.

Skills and Experience

Sporty is looking for someone with advanced knowledge of global payment systems, regional payment rules, fraud prevention, risk management, KYC, investigations, and compliance.

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance or a related field is listed as a requirement. Experience in tech, fintech, or gaming payment operations is considered an advantage.

The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, decision-making ability, leadership experience, and a proven record of solving complex payment issues.
